The “Blue Marble”

Today marks the fortieth anniversary of the taking of a remarkable photograph on December 7, 1972.  The image is of the planet Earth and was taken by the astronauts of Apollo 17, then racing to the moon.  The image is often referred to as “The Blue Marble.”  It conjures up the same thoughts now as it did then.  We are all connected. The world is a beautiful place. We have tremendous power of technology, that we may chose to use for good or evil.   Why do we continue to kill each other, pollute, and destroy our beautiful planet?
